The TZ-luminaire systems for recessed plaster applications have been awarded by the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Energy of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia with the 11th design prize of the State North Rhine-Westphalia 2009 "honourable mention" in the category Universal Home: Product Design. Therefore they were successful in the face of 318 submitted products and concepts. Eligible to participate were companies, designers and architects. It was aimed at providing an evaluation of products, interior fittings or architectures with particular focus on the topic "Universal Home" showing a cross-generation and sensitive design as well as a user-oriented product development for different age and life situations.
New lighting concept for Unilever in Switzerland
Schmitz has developed in cooperation with the designers from newCreations/Netherlands a new lighting concept for the Unilever SCC "cottage house" Schaffhausen in Switzerland.
These designed object floor lamps are convincing due to the high visual comfort with low energy consumption as well as low maintenance effort.

The wall light SLIM, which has already won several international awards, has now been selected by the German Design Council to represent good lighting design at the exhibition DESIGN GERMANY:CASE STUDY 09 at the ICFF in New York. The ICFF is one of the most important Interior Design Fairs worldwide and the most important platform for international design in the USA. The unique exhibition will be shown in New York CitY´s Jacob K.Javits Convention Center.
